7 Latin American Legends That'll Terrify The Pants Off You

The award-winning Mystery Case Files hidden object adventure game series is back with their latest installment Mystery Case Files: 13th Skull. Looming eerily above the other residences on Rondebosch's Milner Road, this striking, three-storey Edwardian dwelling not only looks like something out of a horror movie (particularly at night, when it almost always sits in darkness), but has inspired a number of its own terrifying tales too.

The Diplomat Hotel in the Philippines is a prime spot for ghost hunters, with banging and screams being heard in the middle of the night. Notice how most dark movies revolve around imaginative and unreal plots; these movies are yet the most viewed and most liked.

That's great that the same portal has multiple genres to offer us. The fact that the gruesome nighttime stories feel more like the real life to us than the sweetness of other content shows the true colors we live in. No matter how much we'd like to change it, fairytale life isn't for us because we know that the world isn't perfect and that sweetness is too overrated.

Without doubt, one of the most unsettling stories I've ever seen, and this demonic ventriloquist dummy scenario is still mirrored in modern horror movies like Magic and Triloquist. Featuring such top British actors as Googie Withers and Mervyn Johns, the movie has the framing story of an architect who senses impending doom as his half-remembered recurring dream turns into reality.

As with our other reader polls, this isn't meant to be a ranked or comprehensive list — there are a few books you won't see on it despite their popularity — some didn't stand the test of time, some just didn't catch our readers' interest, and in some cases our judges would prefer you see the movie instead (So no Jaws, sorry.) And there are a few titles that aren't strictly horror, but at least have a toe horror stories in the dark water, or are commenting about horrific things, so our judges felt they deserved a place on the list.
